FILM MAKING AT BALLYVOLANE
Film Project 2007
Fifth class children in Scoil Oilibhéir researched and wrote the script for the latest Scoil Oilibhéir film. Inspired by the Brendan Graham song "Isle of Hope," Mr Elliffe's class chose Annie Moore as the topic for the 2007 movie. Annie Moore was the first immigrant to pass through Ellis Island when it officially opened on January 1 1892. It is believed that Annie came from somewhere in Cork city. This film went on to win an award at the Cork Film Festival.

Congratulations to 2006 fifth class (Ms Barry's) on their excellent production of "Deportation". They were rewarded for their hard work when the film premiered at The Reel Cinema in Blackpool on Friday 16th of June 2006. This film tells the story of the life and times of Michael Griffith and Ellen Healy former inmates of Cork City Gaol who were deported to Australia for a period of seven years. This is a true story, which has been interpreted and dramatised by the children. Children have filmed on location in Kilbrack House Doneraile, Macroom Courthouse, The Port of Cork and in the City Gaol itself.
